Forensic Investigation Services — Overview
Investigations are tailored to client needs, whether the purpose of the investigation is to prevent future occurrences (basic and root cause analysis) or to identify whether the cause of loss is the basis for a claim (forensic engineering).
E2I2 Consulting Inc is a mechanical engineering firm that approaches incidents from a complete system perspective, rather than focusing on only a failed component or components. Physical examinations are completed in the context of how parts and equipment fit and work together within the machine or process. In addition to the failed part, other information is utilized where available to identify incident origins, progression, timing or causes.
E2I2 is experienced in interpreting:
- Process and Instrumentation Drawings
- Process flow diagrams
- Plan, elevation and layout drawings
- Operations and maintenance personnel descriptions and actions
- Process control and historian data from DCS systems
- Maintenance and overhaul records
- Condition monitoring test results including oil analysis and vibration analysis
Where further metallurgical testing or other specialized services is identified, these services are located and coordinated as required.
E2I2 Consulting Inc has experience with a wide variety of claims and is sensitive to many of the issues that arise within specific types of claims. Clients are notified of issues as they arise and the required information for these issues to be properly evaluated is specified.
