Fire Investigations
E2I2 Consulting Inc. provides fire investigation services to the oil and gas industry. It understands the processes and equipment used from the wellhead through the plant and on through many related chemical processes as well. E2I2 Consulting Inc. investigates fires from the very small where almost no damage occurs through to the very large. The investigation can usually identify the source, cause(s), and the extent of the damage to help provide ways to avoid future occurrences. The company has successfully investigated wellsite fires, compressor fires, treater fires, dehydrator fires and on through to oil sands plant fires.
Rapid response to fire investigations is crucial to collect as much data as possible. E2I2 Consulting Inc. is Calgary, Alberta based and can usually respond and attend to sites in British Columbia (BC), Alberta (AB) and Saskatchewan (SK) the same or next day.
E2I2 Consulting Inc. staff is highly experienced with investigating fires. A sample of the fire investigation projects they have handled include:
Oilfield Fires
- Compressor Fires caused by Mechanical Failure of Compressor, Driver, Piping, Lubrication System
- Dehydrator Fires caused by Glycol Pump Seal Failure, Transfer Pump Failure, Runaway Burner
- Drilling Rig Fire caused by Unprotected Light and Splashed Frac Fluids
- Inlet Gas Separator Fire caused by Venting PSV with Static Ignition
- Line Heater Fire caused by Cracked Fire Tube
- Treater Fire caused by Cracked Fire Tube, Corrosion and Wear Leaks, Loss of Level
- Well Head Snubbing Unit Fire caused by Mechanical Failure of Bleed Valve
- Well Head Fire caused by Drill Stem Wearing through Casing (Misaligned Rig)
- Well Head Fire caused by Failed Downhole Packer Assembly
Other Fires
- Amine Unit Fire caused by Excessive/Rapid Corrosion
- Fertilizer Plant Fire (Reformer Furnace) caused by Tube Failure
- Fertilizer Plant Fire caused by Gasket Failure
- Gas Battery Fire caused by Lightning Strike
- Gas Plant Fires caused by Meter Prover Hose Failure, Bulk Transfer Hose Failures
- Heavy Oil Plant Fire caused by Split Piping (due to freezing)
- Oil Battery Fire caused by Lightning Strike
- Propane Refrigeration Compressor Fire caused by Pipe Failure (due to excessive vibration)
- Propane Delivery Truck Fire caused by Pump Seal Failure
- Remote Battery Fire caused by Genset Engine Failure
Typical field or well site fires involve the use of process gas as a control medium instead of process air. Much of the control equipment ends up being an integral part of the fire. These fires present unique challenges to an investigator, requiring experience and knowledge of fires and the process systems. E2I2 Consulting Inc. has that experience and knowledge.
